Peer support is when we feel understood and accepted by others; when we see others in a situation similar to our own and may be able to offer empathy and possibly advice and/or encouragement. It may be that we feel our situation is different to someone else's and this may allow us to offer an outside perspective.
We have all learned from our experiences and peer support allows us to share these in a safe, respectful and safe environment. The role of the facilitators is not that of therapists but simply to provide the space for you to talk, listen and be understood. It is not having to feel alone on your journey. |
