Occasionally we are contacted by organisation who are looking for volunteers to take part in research. These tend to be universities and health care groups. We are going to start advertising some research opportunities on our page and hope they are of some interest to you. We would like to make it clear that we (Bristol ED Peer Support Group) are not responsible or linked with the research in any way so if you have any issues we unfortunately cannot take any responsibility. However, in each research study should be ethical approval gained and a named contact/Principle Investigator so if you do experience any problems please contact them directly.
EDIT, the group that is working to coordinate local services for people with eating disorders has asked us to let you know about the following event.

New workshop: Introduction to public involvement in research for members of the public – Friday 21st May 2021 10.00 am-1.15 pm

Involving members of the public in health and social care research is known as public involvement or patient and public involvement (PPI).  Public involvement can help to make sure that:
  • Research addresses public/patient/service user concerns and needs;
  • Information about research is communicated clearly;
  • Research is informed by the views of those it is intended to benefit; and
  • Findings are shared with people who can use the information to improve care and services.
The workshop is for: Anyone who is interested in getting involved in health and social care research as a member of the public, or who has recently got involved. This includes patients, service users, family members, carers, and community members. We call anyone who gets involved in research a 'public contributor'.
What to expect: An interactive morning workshop online.  The workshop will introduce public involvement in health and social care research, including what would be expected of you and you can expect of others.  Some of the sessions will be:
  • Discussing a possible research topic
  • Expectations and practical information
  • Tips from experienced public contributors
  • Getting feedback and knowing what difference you've made
The workshop will be delivered by the public involvement team at People in Health West of England including public contributors.  If you want to sign up for the workshop the Eventbrite page is here.  This information is also on the PHWE website here: http://www.phwe.org.uk/event-old/introduction-to-public-involvement-in-research-for-members-of-the-public/
